Porriño

This video says it all.
I will be living in Galicia, near the gorgeous city Vigo, in a little town called Porriño.
Vigo is right above Portugal and located right on the coast of the Atlantic.
I'M. SO. EXCITED.

Familia!

Well that was fast...........
Looks like my prayers were loud enough...because....I HAVE A FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was sitting at my kitchen counter studying chemistry and all of a sudden I get a Facebook friend request on my phone from some random Spanish name and I'm like "...bye." BUT THEN I got an email titled "Spanish host family" and the random Spanish name was plastered onto it! WHAAAT! Daddy!!
They are so beautiful. I have an awesome dad (whom I have already conversed with about grasshoppers and goldfish), a beautiful mom, and two little brothers (age 3 and 5)!!!!!!!
I can't even explain my excitement. I have been dancing around the house all morning and I have consumed zero food unless you count 3 cups of coffee as some form of nutrition.
In the mean time I have way too much chemistry to do today, looks like I'm going to have to sail back to the real world now.............
CHAO!

¿DONDE ESTA MI FAMILIA?

Family! Where are you?
Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, asks me "Omg, where are you staying? Who is your family?!" and I'm always like "I have no idea, bro."
HOW EMBARRASSING! I always want to curl into a little ball at the look they give me.
So, since it's almost August and I leave as soon as September comes around, it is now time to moderately freak out.
I've come up with a list of reasons as to why I don't have a host family yet:
1. Nobody wants me (impossible!)
2. YFU is super busy right now (probable)
3. My packet of host family info is sitting on somebody's desk at YFU and they haven't sent it to me yet
4. ......Nobody wants me

It feels weird having my flight dates and yet not my family. Hmm.
To my nonexistent family: I ALREADY HAVE PRESENTS FOR YOU!

I should go study now. Have a nice day.

The Calm Before the Storm

OH MY LORD. This time next month, I shall be packing (last minute as always) for SPAIN!!! WHAT?!
I just received my official itinerary the other day......and I'm apparently flying to Madrid on September 11th.......
Where can I buy a portable parachute......?
In other news, I just got back from visiting the Spanish consulate in Chicago to sign up for a visa. Naturally there was a complication in the dates my school sent to me...so I'm still figuring that out. All of the girls working there had really strong Spanish accents and let me just say I am going to be absolutely melancholy if I don't have one of those cute accents by the time I get home.
It's starting to really hit me that I'm not going to school here next year. How will I get by without homecoming and Halloween and Thanksgiving...? Am I really going to miss being American?
It's also starting to set in that I'm not going to understand any of my textbooks in class.....oh gosh. And? I cant even pronounce the name of my grade. Hmm.
My summer has been virtually listless so far. I get up early most mornings to study for Chemistry, Algebra 2, and personal finance. I have been known to bring my chem book to the quarry as well....
And my dad signed me up for an ACT class at the university of Toledo....buckets of fun right there.
I thought this summer would be the calm before the storm but I feel like I'm always caught in a tornado of homework and plans and people when all I really want is a nap.
